Scholar of citizen engagement and the future of work

Ariadne Vromen
In February 2025 I became Professor and Head of Political and International Studies at the University of Glasgow in Scotland.
I was previously Professor of Public Administration in the Crawford School of Public Policy at the Australian National University, and Deputy Dean Research for the Australian and New Zealand School of Government.
As a political sociologist I study how digital transformations in society are affecting citizens’ lives. My research projects and publications span issues of citizen engagement, women and the future of work, evidence for public policymaking, young people and politics, and political advocacy organisations.
